A Special Switzerland Snowshoe Trail

SUMMARY

Date:  Friday January 17th to Monday 20th January – a 3 day Switzerland Snowshoe Trail staying each night in different special Swiss alpine hotels. We will walk approx 27kms over the 3 days.

Guide: Karin Schmid 0ur local Swiss Guide with Ginny from the UK WalkingWomen team.

Walking Grade: GOAT 2 – We use Snow Shoes to hike through the snow to get us into beautiful landscapes as we walk this special trail through a part of the Bernese Oberland. Luggage is carried and there will always be the option to take the transport.

Highlights: Walking in the snow. The Alpine Landscapes. Arriving each evening to stay in an alpine chalet hotel. The local food., The experienced local guiding.

Base: We stay in 3 different hotels as we walk on each day:

Friday: Sörenberg Hotel Salwideli

Saturday:Hotel Kemmeribodenbad

Sunday: Gasthof Baren, Hapkern

Arrivals:  Starting Point is Sörenberg bus station at 13.00 – approximately 1.5 hours from Zurich or 3 hours from Geneva. We will advise on travel as people will be coming from different places. We will have a meet up in Zurich to travel together to Sorenberg.

Departures: From Habkern after breakfast on Monday 20th January. There is a bus to Interlaken and we will be travelling together for those returning to Zurich by train.

Price: £1350 solo occupancy ensuite rooms each night and to include

DETAILS

The snowshoe trekking starts at the heart of the UNESCO biosphere Entelbuch, in Sörenberg where we meet for our afternoon hike. On the way to our first hotel Salwidel  we discover the beauty of this  area with stunning views to the Brienzer Rothorn (2378m) and Schrattenfluh (2092).

The next day we continue on to the cosy hotel Kemmeribodenbad where we enjoy good food especially their famous meringue with cream!

Our last day brings more stunning landscapes as we pass the Lombachalp with the nature reserve and enjoy the view to Eiger, Mönch und Jungfrau. We end in Hapkern for our finale night .

ITINERARY

Meet at Sörenberg bus station – your luggage will be taken on to our first hotel in Saldieli so come dressed for snow shoeing.
