DETAILS
Glaramara is an ideal base with commanding views of the Borrowdale Fells. Beautiful, varied walks on the doorstep and stunning views all around make this an ideal spot. The winter can bring wonderful light and we hope it appeals to join us to get out and do some bracing walks.
The hotel is so welcoming with relaxing spaces and cosy corners to enjoy a cuppa, a local beer or whatever tipple takes your fancy. The full board menu has tasty local food and plenty of it. An interesting feature is the display of local art adorning the walls – some for sale to support the local artists. En-suite bedrooms give comfort at the end of the day which are so enjoyed after a good days walking.
Most walks are accessible directly from the hotel making this a very relaxing break away from driving or lots of travel. A walk from the hotel is a swim spot for those lovers of outdoor dipping in very cold water!
In this short break you will have the chance to really experience what this area has to offer and hopefully it will tempt you to return.
ITINERARY
Itinerary will vary depending on weather and at the discretion of the guide. We always say Trust Your Guide as they know the area and will put together some lovely walks to give you the best of the area . The walks are to get you out to enjoy the fresh outdoors.
Rachel will plan to show you her area with some lower level winter walks such as:
- The Cumbria way from the hotel to Keswick
- A loop around Borrowdale lake
- A walk down to Seathwaite and then a loop up Styhead Ghyll, summit seathwaite fell and head to sprinkling tarns and return via grains gill.
There are also several smaller peaks – weather permitting we will use these to test your legs up and down hills.
Your guide will brief you about the walks on your first evening.
