The beautiful Isle of Arran is often described as Scotland in miniature – spectacular seascapes, ruined castles, gentle farmland, forests, waterfalls, all to a backdrop of rugged mountain peaks.  In June there are lots of spring flowers and October brings wonderful autumn colours.  Seals, otters, red squirrels, red deer can all be seen and the island also has nesting golden eagles

There are a great variety of gentle and intermediate walks, many exploring the coastline.   We can walk in the grounds of Brodick Castle and along Glen Rosa, through the woods to Glenashdale waterfall in Whiting Bay.  We can also visit the romantic castle ruins on the shore of beautiful Lochranza and Seal Shore on Arran’s southerly coast at Kildonan.  Several walks start from Brodick itself, for others we use the local buses that tour the island (bus pass provided).

We will be staying at comfortable Dunvegan House in Brodick, which is just a few minutes walk along Shore Road from the ferry terminal.  It’s a lovely red sandstone licensed guest house which has beautiful sea views across the bay to Brodick castle and the majestic peak of Goat Fell.  Brodick has a number of hotels (one with swimming pool and spa) and some shops for gifts and essentials.  We will eat at the hotel on four evenings and eat out together in Brodick on the other two (not included).

Arran is the most southerly Scottish island and easy to get to by train or car, with regular ferries from Ardrossan which is south west of Glasgow.

Price includes: 6 nights full board accommodation excluding 2 evening meals; transport to walks. Single rooms available if you book early – £15 per night
