An exciting NEW women’s holiday for 2018 – we have been to this region in the past but this itinerary is totally new and offers a fascinating insight into Catalonia’s countryside, culture and food!
Catalonia is a region full of natural wonders, fascinating cultural heritage and rich gastronomy. Join us to discover the diversity of landscape: from Mediterranean forest to wild coastline walks, vineyards, ancient monasteries and fishing villages combined with wonderful gastronomy and wine tasting. We will stay in a lovely 4* hotel in coastal Calella on the Costa Brava. From here our walks will include Montserrat with its famous Black Madonna and Tossa del Mar, inspiration for many artists. On one day we will walk through an eco-vineyard in Alella and enjoy a taste of their produce. Tapas will naturally be a feature! There will also be a free day when you can simply relax or choose to join a guided tour of Barcelona or Girona.
Day 1 Arrival Pick up from Barcelona airport and travel to hotel. Introductory briefing for holiday.
Day 2 Mediterranean Forest and Modernism Art Museum. Departing from the hotel we will climb up to Calella’s “Torretes” to enjoy a magnificent view of the coast. Wet then walk down through the Golinons valley to Sant Pol de Mar. We will take the train to Canet (5 minutes) and walk to the charming village to visit the Domènech and Montaner Museum, father of Catalan’s Modernism Art Style. After the visit we will enjoy some tapas at a local terrace. Walking Distance: 11km
Day 3 Discovering the holy Mountain and the Monastery of Montserrat. Be amazed by the breath-taking views from Montserrat Natural Mountain, its famous shaped peaks and its vegetation. Vist the Black Madonna at the XI Century Benedictine Monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat. We will take the funicular railway to Sant Joan and we will hike up to the highest point of Sant Jeroni (1236m) Walking Distance: 8km
Day 4 Free Day Today you have free time to relax or sign up to an optional tour to Barcelona or Girona.
Day 5 Montnegre Natural Park. Today we enjoy the surroundings of the Montnegre Natural Park. We will walk through the river valley, exploring its vegetation and fauna. Afterwards you will have a chance to relax and a typical mountain lunch. Walking Distance: 10km
Day 6 Costa Brava Treasures: Tossa de Mar and its Medieval Wall A circular walk along the rugged coastline of Tossa de Mar on the Costa Brava. A charming and picturesque and artistic town rich in heritage – the surrounding wall dates from the Middle Ages. Tossa de Mar is the source of inspiration of many artists and Marc Chagall called it: “The Blue Paradise de Mar” Walking Distance: 8.5km
Day 7 Walk & Wine Serralada de la Marina Nature Park Today we set out on a panoramic hike around Serralada de la Marina mountain through the vineyards of D.O Alella. After the walk your guide will take you to a family run, eco-vineyard in the charming village of Alella where you will enjoy a typical picnic lunch with natural and seasonal products accompanied by a fine wine of their production. Walking Distance: 14 km
Day 8 Departure Today we return to Barcelona airport for our flight home.
