Join us on the beautiful Greek island of Lesvos for a varied programme of walks from our base in Skala Eressos, a popular coastal town surrounded by a stunning ampitheatre of volcanic rock and hills. We will explore the nearby petrified forest, ancient chapels, monasteries, waterfalls and beaches during the week. On some days we will walk direct from the hotel and on others we will explore further afield. We hope to visit Pithariou Monastery, situated above a gorgeous lake in as deep valley and Sigri where we will have time to visit the museum of the petrified forest. June is the perfect time to visit Lesvos – temperatures should be ideal for walking and it is a fantastic time to observe the rich birdlife. There will also be plenty of time to relax and enjoy the beach and waterfront tavernas at Skala Eressos. Birthplace of 7th Century BC poet, Sappho, Lesvos is a popular destination for women travellers from around the world. There will be one free day during the week when you can either choose to relax and enjoy the beach or your guide can help organise a day trip or activity (not included). During our stay we will stay at Hotel Galini with each room having a private balcony. Along with the WW guide, the walks will be led by Helene and Anna who have guided walks on Lesvos for the last 10 years so have much knowledge and enthusiasm to share!
