We are delighted to be returning to Castleton, a superb location for exploring both the Dark and White Peak areas. There are so many wonderful walks to choose from and each one will give you a taste of the beautiful and varied landscape of this area. We will certainly take in the Great Ridge from Lose Hill to Mam Tor with far reaching views along and beyond the neighbouring valleys. It is perhaps the most walked route in the whole of the Peak District and with good reason!
Another route may take us deep into limestone country with its typical lush green pasture criss-crossed by a network of stone walls. In complete contrast, we will head over to the dark, brooding mass of Kinder Scout, the highest “peak” in the National Park. Once you have followed the track up to the higher reaches, it is, in reality, a relatively flat plateau of peat moorland which has undergone intensive restoration over the past few years. It is ringed by a series of shapely tors and boulders, giving it an air of drama. It’s certainly a memorable day out!
We stay at the Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, in the heart of Castleton where there is a good choice of places to eat. Evening meals (not included) will be organised by your guide.
Price includes: 4 nights part board accommodation in twin ensuite rooms. Single ensuite rooms available if you book early – £15 per night supplement.
