Walk with your dog in the picturesque village of Kilburn, in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and just 20 miles north of York. We will stay at the Forresters Arms, a charming country inn with real ales and truly excellent food. The quiet village is overlooked by the White Horse, a chalk figure carved into the hillside above. We will get a close up view of this figure using the Cleveland Way for part of the day. There should be plenty of wild flowers along our footpaths making it a most enjoyable stay. We will take in Sutton Brow with its wonderful long distance views. Whilst there, we will drop into the visitors centre which provides not only plenty of information about the area but also a very good gift shop and a great cafe – lovely cake and scones! We may visit the evocative remains of Byland Abbey in an area formerly dominated by the wool trade. You can also visit the Mouseman Centre in Kilburn, home to the famous furniture, each piece bearing the signature carved mouse. The local church also has these iconic carvings hidden away in various nooks and crannies.
