The Norfolk Coast Path wends its way under huge skies along the Norfolk Coast – an area of outstanding natural beauty and a bird watcher’s paradise. This gentle holiday with Madeline, our natural history guide, will cover parts of the coastal path from Cley-next-the-sea to Titchwell Nature Reserve in easy 4 – 6 mile stages, using the Coasthopper bus to get us to these bird-rich habitats. This gives us an unrivalled opportunity to see many species of resident ducks, waders, seabirds and geese as well as some of the thousands of migrating birds that pass through here in spring. We may see terns, oyster catchers, avocets, marsh harriers, godwits, redshanks and even the rare bittern on the tidal flats or from hides overlooking saltmarshes, lagoons, and whispering reedbeds. On one day we might take a trip by boat to see the Blakeney Point seal colony(not included).
The holiday is based at the Red Lion in Stiffkey an eco-friendly hotel opened in 2008. The rooms are just beautiful – light and airy with either a balcony or private outdoor area. The sedum roof keeps rooms warm in winter and cool in summer. We eat in the very welcoming bar, a beautifully presented area that has a cosy feel and is popular with visitors and locals alike.
Price includes: 4 nights full board, all transport to walks. Not included: boat trip to Blakeney Point approx. £12. Single rooms available (supplement £15 per night) if you book early!
