2017 Low Intermediate Lorton Vale, Lake District 2 – NEW

11th -15th Nov 2017 (Sat - Wed)
4 Nights Full Board - £450

Lorton Vale is truly one of the Lake District’s last hidden gems. Stretching from Honister Pass to Cockermouth, it contains the beautiful lakes of Buttermere, Crummock Water, and Loweswater, and the river Cocker as it winds through the Lorton valley just 8 miles from Keswick. The walking is wide ranging from stunning lakeshore paths to the high Grasmoor and Buttermere fells – with everything else in between. This holiday is based at High Swinside – Diana Clarke’s new venture – a converted 18th century farmhouse with superb views overlooking the Lorton valley – and a hot tub for relaxing after walking! All meals will be included except for one night when we’ll go out to eat at the Wheatsheaf pub in Lorton village.

On this Low Intermediate holiday we will be spoilt for choice with many and varied routes to choose from. There’s a wonderful ramble along an ancient bridle path above Loweswater that will give us superb views across to Grasmoor as the lakeshore trees below us take on their autumn colours. Another circuit could include both the lovely Rannerdale valley and the magical views from Scale Hill, with the stunning Crummock Water shore in between. Low Fell might also tempt us across the valley: here a gradually ascending grassy path takes us to a summit with some of the best views of the Western Lakes. On our last day we could walk the circuit of beautiful Buttermere, or take a last stroll through the Lorton valley to visit its 1000 year old yew tree… so many fantastic walks to choose from in this most peaceful of western Lakeland valleys

Price includes: 4 nights full board in cottage accommodation (excluding 1 evening meal); transport to walks. NO SINGLE SUPPLEMENT. Ensuite available if you book early – £15 per night supplement.
