2017 High Level Borrowdale, Lake District

20th -24th Aug 2017 (Sun - Thu)
4 Nights Full Board - £430

Borrowdale is the name given to the valley beyond Derwent Water – often called the most beautiful valley in England. The road that takes you there from Keswick will captivate you as it winds through the woods beside the River Derwent then opens out to vistas of the surrounding fells. In Borrowdale we stay at Glaramara Centre near Seatoller hamlet which is superbly located for walks in several directions.

Borrowdale offers a wealth of High Level walks including England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike. The walk takes us through magnificent mountain scenery to the top of England – a photo opportunity if ever there was one! We may also include the fabulous High Spy ridge where our efforts will be rewarded with views in all directions and a lovely descent overlooking Derwent Water. On other days, Haystacks near Buttermere might tempt us – Wainwright’s favourite fell, or rocky Glaramara just across the valley from where we stay, passing waterfalls on the way to the summit. There’s so much to choose from in this beautiful northern valley!

The centre has plenty of parking space or the nearest train station for north Lakeland is Penrith. From the station there are frequent buses to Keswick, following which you take the regular bus up the valley to Seatoller.

There may be additional bus fares to pay depending on the chosen walks.

Price includes: 4 nights full board. No supplement for a standard single room. £15 per night supplement for an ensuite room
