Come and explore Newcastle / Gateshead – known for its friendly people, vibrant atmosphere, wide ranging culture, historical architecture and fascinating heritage. On our first day we will do a guided walking tour of Newcastle’s central area, learning about the architecture and the history of the city. Later we may visit the Baltic or the Laing Art Gallery. One day we could visit the Quayside market then take a riverboat trip to the mouth of the Tyne. We may also head out to see the Angel of the North in all its glory. On our last day we might explore the Ouseburn area, once at the forefront of the industrial revolution on Tyneside and now a lively regenerated area, home to the Biscuit Factory gallery. There will be time for shopping and to sample some of the numerous cafes or bars and we will go out for dinner each evening. We stay in the modern Jury’s Inn, Gateshead, right by the river, next to the Baltic Flour Mill, close to the Sage and the stylish Millennium Bridge.
