In 2018, we are delighted to be working with Jenny Bowen, founder of Sense Africa. Our Gentle Swaziland Wildlife and Safari adventure in June will be led by Jenny and we couldn’t be happier to have her on board. She’s a true expert in her field and has a passion for Swaziland which will undoubtedly shine through on the trip:
“My first job after graduating as an ecologist from Leeds University was in Africa – little did I know the importance of this on my life. As the permanent ecologist for Raleigh International in Zimbabwe I set up numerous conservation projects, managed hundreds of volunteers, collated scientific data and wrote many reports. I lived here for 2 years, in the bush, and it was here that I promptly fell in love with the continent.
Since Zimbabwe, I have spent many years working in Africa, have led expeditions to Africa as well as other far flung places, worked for a game capture unit in South Africa and set up conservation and community projects in Swaziland. This led me to setting up my own business, Sense Africa Limited, which organises specialist holidays to the dark continent with Swaziland as my main destination. Not only am I the only tour operator that provides itineraries to Swaziland but I also represent the Kingdom here in the UK, working for the Swaziland Tourism Authority. I also provide Swaziland talks at Trade Shows and Women Business Groups.
I am a Mountain Leader, can track animals and have a passion for conservation and wildlife. I also have an obsession with giraffe having spent countless hours monitoring these animals and collecting their poo! I am told that I do a good camel impersonation…
Africa is restoration for the soul and I am always looking forward to my next visit.”
