At WalkingWomen, we’re proud to support women creators who share our vision. We’ve been fortunate to collaborate with Zora McDonald and Dryadic over the years, with their music becoming so important to us. Their track I Like was featured in our recent video promoting the adventures we have planned for 2025, perfectly capturing the spirit of joy, connection, and exploration we hold dear.
WalkingWomen 2025 with Music by Zora and Dryadic
Zora’s unique style struck a particular chord with us during our summer holiday in Glaramara, Lake District. Despite the rain, it was a week filled with laughter, connection, and new friendships – all topped off by an intimate and unforgettable musical finale with Zora, Allie, and special guests O’Hooley & Tidow. Women joined us from the US, Canada, across Europe, and the UK, creating a warm, vibrant atmosphere that made the evening’s music even more meaningful.
Now, we’re excited to share Dryadic’s latest single, Smiling in the Dark, releasing on November 8th. The track blends folk roots with catchy fiddle hooks and Zora’s evocative vocals, bringing to life that wonderful moment of falling deeply in love. As Zora describes, “Smiling in the Dark is about that feeling when you’re lying beside someone, smiling so much you can’t sleep. You’re head-over-heels and wide awake, hoping your partner can’t hear your grin!”
For me, this resonates deeply. After losing my partner years ago, I didn’t imagine love would return to my life, but it did, and songs like Smiling in the Dark remind me of that quiet joy of rediscovering love. It’s a song that speaks to everyone who has found – or is hoping to find – that simple yet profound feeling of connection.
If you want to experience this beautiful song live, Zora will be performing at our Lesbian Summer Break 2025 in Snowdonia on August 19th, sharing Smiling in the Dark and much more in the stunning Welsh landscape.
In the meantime, check out her upcoming tour dates and do go along if you can..
