Emma Fox is a born and bred Mancunian who loves sharing stories and insider local knowledge about her home town. Guiding since 2009, she thinks guiding is the best job in the world – meeting people, working with people of all ages, all backgrounds in a place constantly evolving, being active, being outdoors and freelance. She studied European Studies, including history, international relations and German and has lived in Berlin and Vienna. Emma spricht Deutsch.
Emma enjoys bringing to life historical and modern Manchester through engaging storytelling – on diverse subjects such as industrial heritage, the radical ideas of, among others, Engels and the Pankhursts, cotton and slavery, Factory Records, the Scuttlers, the arts, sports, architecture, food and drink, Manchester bees, multi-cultural Manchester, Southern Cemetery and our green and hidden spaces. Each tour is tailored to the group, whether a primary school class, a press visit, a coach holiday tour or corporate delegates, on walking, coach, bike & boat tours.
Emma is an official tour guide for Manchester, the Bridgewater Canal in Salford, and North Wales.
She has been described as vivacious, knowledgeable, accomplished and engaging.
