2018 Gentle Wye Valley

24th -27th Mar 2018 (Sat - Tue)
3 Nights Full Board - £430

Our Wye Valley holiday based at the very comfortable Royal George Hotel near Tintern Abbey has proved a great success. This lovely area is steeped in history and is rich in wildlife, archaeology, and industrial remains. The River Wye forms the boundary between England and Wales, and King Offa built his famous dyke near the English bank. In places ancient woodland clings to the steep sides of a dramatic limestone gorge, while elsewhere the river is bordered by tranquil meadows.
One walk will take us across the river to England and up to the Brockweir Bridge area before returning along the Welsh bank. On the way we can visit the old railway station to explore it’s history, sculptures and cafe with home-made cakes. We pass a vineyard on our return section with a small tasting shop of wines, cheeses and chutneys.
On another day we’ll walk lush wooded valleys and open hillsides visiting ancient churches and the spectacular Eagle’s Nest viewpoint.
Our third day will involve exploring the historic tracks of the Angiddy Valley, and woods where we can walk amongst the remains of ancient wireworks.
After walking we can explore Tintern village with its old pubs, tourist shops and craft galleries.
Our Gentle holiday will be as above and our Low Intermediate version will involve more challenging extensions in order to reach additional points of interest including Gaer Hill Fort and The Devil’s Pulpit vantage point.
After walking we can explore Tintern village with its old pubs, tourist shops and craft galleries.

Price includes: 3 nights full board in ensuite twins at the Royal George Hotel, & any transport to walks. Singles available if you book early – £20 per night supplement
