Skipton, known as the Gateway to the Dales is a traditional Yorkshire market town steeped in a history that goes back to the Domesday Book. The imposing bulk of Skipton Castle hints at its historic importance. It was formerly a mill town and an important centre for sheep trading. It’s busy market continues to this day.
For walkers, Skipton is perfectly located for access to the surrounding moors and dales. During our stay we may venture onto Flasby Fell, Embsay Moor, Skipton Moor and perhaps head out for a walk near the impressive remains of Bolton Abbey using the Embsay to Bolton Abbey steam railway.
We stay at the Rendezvous Hotel where we will receive a warm Yorkshire welcome. The hotel is situated on a quiet canal on the outskirts of Skipton and offers a swimming pool, spa, sauna and gym – so plenty to keep you entertained after your walk!
