The Gower Peninsula was the first UK area to be awarded the status of Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This new Low Intermediate Gower holiday in May is based at the very comfortable Oxwich Bay Hotel, on Oxwich Bay. The hotel is located just 10 metres from the beach and our walks will mainly be from the hotel, through such mixed delights as nature reserve, woodland, cliff tops, open fields, dunes and sweeping sandy beach. On one day we’ll explore Oxwich Bay itself, combining beach, woods, clifftops and we’ll get to the top of Cefn Bryn, rewarding us with all round panoramic views, including across the Loughor Estuary. Another day we’ll walk via the cliffs at Oxwich Point and after a beach stop, head inland through Mill Wood and the Penrice Castle estate. On another day, we’ll take transport to the breathtakingly panoramic Worm’s Head area at Rhossili. Bring your camera that day as we’ll walk up to the beacon at Gower’s highest point and take in the views over to Devon and Pembrokeshire before having a splash in the sea. The last day is often in and around the picturesque 3 Cliffs Bay area with cliffs, river and beach combined.
The nearest train station to Oxwich Bay is Swansea, about 15 miles away with good bus connections to near the hotel, so you can use public transport to reach this somewhat remote but beautiful destination.
Price includes: 4 nights full board in ensuite twin rooms; & transport to walks for Worm’s Head walk. Single rooms available if you book early – £15 per night supplement.
