This holiday provides company for those that want to ‘have a go’ and adventure for those who have done it before. Long a place of inspirational scenery and activity, the fells and valleys of Borrowdale will be our backdrop for walks. The swims are as varied as the landscape including Sprinkling Tarn (at the foot of the Scafell Massif) Tarn at Leaves (beside Bessyboot) and into Langstrath for a gorge swim into Black Moss Pot in the impressive beck taking water on its way to Derwent Water – another very suitable place to swim. Take a plunge, try your courage and join the others who have gone home inspired to continue the simple delights of dipping into open water whilst out on a hike.
The Glaramara Centre has a wonderful setting at the head of Borrowdale on the outskirts of Seatoller hamlet – a location that has ensured its popularity as a walking centre for many years. It has striking views up Borrowdale’s tributary valley of Seathwaite and across to Glaramara – hence the name. Downstairs there is a large lounge and a separate bar – both with snug log fires, a dining room, a small games/TV room, and an efficient drying room. Holidays here are priced on a full board basis and are very good value, with a choice of delicious evening meals made from fresh ingredients.
Though intermediate in grade, this takes into account the swimming as well as the walking so walks will often be shorter than the usual 8 miles.
Price includes: 4 nights full board in twin ensuite rooms. Single rooms available if you book early – £15 per night supplement
