Borrowdale is the name given to the valley beyond Derwent Water – often called the most beautiful valley in England. The road that takes you there from Keswick will captivate you as it winds through the woods beside the River Derwent then opens out to vistas of the surrounding fells. In Borrowdale, we stay at the Glaramara Centre near Seatoller hamlet which is superbly located for walks in several directions.
Borrowdale offers a wealth of gentle walks direct from the door with river, fell and woodland to explore. There really is a special atmosphere deep in the heart of the Lake District that you won’t find anywhere else. We may spot deer or red squirrels on our walks as we meander through the nearby woods. We may head to some of the wilder reaches of the tributaries of the River Derwent which offer a sense of remoteness. Perhaps one day we will explore the paths around beautiful Derwent Water, surrounded by the much loved fells of Cat Bells and its neighbouring peaks.
The Glaramara Centre has undergone an amazing transformation over the past few years and we are pleased to announce that all of its rooms have now been upgraded to ensuites. The centre has a large lounge area, separate bar and a light, airy dining room where we will enjoy our meals.
