Grandvalira, in Andorra, at the heart of the rugged Pyrennes, is a world class gem of a ski resort that easily equals the best resorts found across the Alps. A plethora of ski runs, totalling 210kms, connect five stunning mountain ranges. These consist of 34 blue, 33 red and 19 black runs. If that’s not enough then there are also plenty of opportunities to take little tracks between the trees lower down the valleys or test yourself on the steeper moghuls, deeper snow and playparks higher up the slopes. In short Grandvalira is a fantastic, purpose-built, resort for intermediate and more advanced skiers and your time here will be facilitated by a WalkingWomen guide.
A further attraction is the mountain refuges and restaurants where we take our lunches, and the sun-soaked, apres-ski terraces are often cheaper (and sometimes more friendly) than their counterparts in the Alps. Finally, our hotel in Soldeu is the small, family run Hotel de Roc San Miquel, which offers comfortable rooms, very welcoming hosts and a warm refuge at the end of the day.
