Grasmere is a great base for Slow High holidays with several classic walks starting nearby. As a warm up, the wonderful ridge walk via Helm Crag to High Raise will give us some of the best views of the Central Fells; or we can head for the popular Langdale Pikes, from Great Langdale or from Grasmere via Sargeant Man. We can also tackle the famous Fairfield Horseshoe – with breathtaking views of St Sunday Crag and Helvellyn from the top, returning with all of Grasmere and Windermere spread out below.
We stay at Glenthorne Guest House – always a favourite! Glenthorne is a very comfortable and friendly place to stay, serving excellent food with a table license and including a delicious vegetarian option each day. There’s a tradition here of free tea and cakes after walking. The guest house is located 4 minutes walk up Easedale Road from the bus stop in Grasmere. It has a big garden with lovely views, a sizeable lounge with a conservatory, a separate table tennis room, and a large car park. All rooms have tea/coffee making facilities.
Price includes: 4 nights full board in ensuite twin rooms. Single rooms available if you book early – from £7.50 to £15 per night supplement
