2017 Very Gentle Kennet and Avon Canal NEW GRADE

22nd -25th Jun 2017 (Thu - Sun)
3 Nights Part Board - £380

A collection of canalside walks, a cruise, a country seat and cafes galore combine to create a carefree country break. Those connoisseurs amongst you who are craving commanding countryside, copses, crops and canal craft will not be disappointed, as we concentrate on the countryside around the Kennet and Avon canal.

Conversely, others will be conjuring up a collection of cakes, caffeine, carbohydrates and claret when we go for our constitutionals, but you too should have a cracker of a time, especially when we cross the canal to Crofton Pumping Station. Each evening we will be converging on very comfortable Pelican Free House, Froxfield, Marlborough in order consume the creative home-cooked food, confabulate and count sheep in readiness for the next day. One day we will climb aboard The Rose of  Hungerford and be conveyed on a cruise together with taking time to explore the common land and consumer  opportunities that Hungerford has to offer.

The final day culminates in a walk to Littlecote House, where culture vultures will be compelled to visit the Roman mosaic and villa remains, the captivating gardens and the many rooms of this historic House.

Our new Very Gentle grade offers walks of around 3 miles with plenty of opportunities to stop at cafes and local attractions. There may still be stiles and uneven ground to negotiate.

The price includes 3 nights’ part board, all transport to walks, canal cruise and the visit to Littlecote House and estate. The Pelican Inn is in the village of Froxfield, on the A4 between Marlborough and Hungerford. It is just 8 miles from J14 of the M4.
