2017 Gentle Grasmere Walking and Yoga, Lake District

25th -28th Aug 2017 (Fri - Mon)
3 Nights Full Board - £390

Grasmere is one of the most central of the Lake District valleys, with stunning scenery that has inspired poets and artists alike. There are beautiful and varied paths at every level, and plenty to do after walking – from exploring Grasmere village with its teashops and outdoor shops, to visiting Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage or going rowing on the lake. Grasmere’s nearest train station is Windermere, and there is a regular bus service from the station.

Grasmere is a wonderful area for gentle breaks with a host of low level choices. We might start with a lovely lakeshore path beside Grasmere and Rydal Water, returning via Rydal Cave and Loughrigg Terrace for its stunning view over the lake. The wooded bridle path to Rydal village is also delightful, and we might stop at White Moss Common for the view – or at Rydal Hall for tea beside its tumbling beck. We can walk to beautiful Loughrigg Tarn or climb the path beside Sour Milk Gill waterfall to Easedale Tarn in the hills.

This holiday seeks to create a quiet space to combine a love of the outdoors with opportunities to practice Yoga poses. The holiday offers morning and evening Yoga practice with the opportunity for a gentle walk in the local area. Yoga helps to combat the stresses and strains of modern life and provides an opportunity to develop positive ways of dealing with stress and overload. Daily practice of Asanas and breath awareness in accordance with the principles of Iyengar Yoga helps to develop strength and flexibility leading to an enhanced feeling of well being. The aim of regular practice is to restore a sense of calmness to the mind and well-being to the body. This holiday can offer you the opportunity to begin / consolidate your Yoga practice within a setting where you can take full advantage of the natural environment.

A typical day will consist of Yoga for an hour in the morning and up to an hour and a half in the evening and a walk of between 3 and 5 miles.
