Our Cumbrian location for our gentle walking holiday is Arnside, a tranquil former fishing port sited on an estuary where the River Kent enters Morecambe Bay. The town has retained many of the features from its past and the beautiful pier and port areas offer stunning views across Morecambe Bay as well as providing an enduring reminder of Arnside’s illustrious history. It is a haven for birds, and the surrounding countryside contains a wealth of flora and fauna. It is with good reason that it has been designated an Area of Outstanding Beauty. The area is recognised for its extraordinary diversity of habitats, and of plants, birds and butterflies. The stunning limestone pavements, ancient woodlands, meadows, rich wetlands and impressive coastline – as well as the welcoming community and an intriguing history – all contribute to making this area unique.
Our base is Park Side, set high above the bay with wonderful views over both land and water. Park Side was set up in the 1930’s as a place for those women of Lancashire who were facing hardship. They were able to come and relax, enjoy the fresh air and a sense of community. It certainly provided a welcome break for those in need. Today it is open to many different groups and offers lovely ensuite rooms; well maintained grounds; and plenty of space to relax. On 2 evenings we will eat out in Arnside (not included).
Price includes: 4 nights full board accommodation (excluding 2 evening meals); transport to walks. No supplement to pay for a single room.
