1-4 Oct 2012 (Mon-Thu) A new holiday, by popular request in the stunning Brecon Beacons in Wales.
Fuller detail
The Brecon Beacons are said to be named after the ancient practice of lighting
signal fires (beacons) on mountains to warn of attacks by the English, or more recently to commemorate public and national events such as coronations or the Millennium. In 2012 we have a new holiday by popular request, in the Brecon Beacons, South Wales, based at Nythfa House. The House is set in its own grounds a few minutes walk from the centre of Brecon – among the
amenities on offer is a heated indoor swimming pool. Accommodation is in
en suite rooms, on a full board basis (single supplement £10 pn).
Our walks will be in the fabulous Brecon Beacons, and will include the summit of Pen y
Fan – at 886 metres, the highest mountain in South Wales, and the highest in the UK south of Cadair Idris. We’ll also walk in the neighbouring Fforest Fawr mountains, and make a visit to the
National Park Vistors Centre. The holiday is graded ‘Slow High’ to give us plenty of opportunity to take in the grandeur of the surroundings, take photographs, and to look out for wildlife and plants. Each day we’ll walk about 12 miles, and gain about 700 – 850 metres of ascent. A fabulous opportunity to sample this stunning location.
