We’ll see Avebury’s striking 5000 year old stone circle which has been designated a World Heritage Site, and walk down West Kennet Avenue – an avenue of standing stones leading to the Sanctuary. We will also see fascinating Silbury Hill on our way to West Kennet Long Barrow – an ancient burial chamber that we can enter. On the last day we can head up onto the lovely Marlborough Downs or walk over Fyfield Down with its numerous Sarsen stones and stunning views. The Castle & Ball offers beautifully decorated ensuite twins and plenty of ensuite singles. In the evening we can choose from the hotel’s delicious menu, or go out to eat (evening meals are not included – from £15). Plenty of parking, or Bedwyn station is 7 miles by taxi or good bus service. (Avebury: £4.70. National Trust members free).
